Poetry
This poem is very special to me as I composed it for two good friends of mine sometime ago. They had wanted a baby for many years, but could not conceive. Finally, she and her husband were granted permission to adopt, and they chose a little girl. I wrote this poem for them on the day they brought their miracle baby daughter home.
My friends framed the poem, and hung it proudly in their daughters nursery.
The Miracle of Adoption.
I saw the cutest flower, nestled in the grass; It looked so pale and trembling, I almost went on pass.
But something in it's beauty, gave me thought to pause; And gaze at it with longing, though I did not know the cause.
As the sun shone oh-so-brightly, the flower seemed to sigh; And lifting up it's dainty head, Stared straight into the sky.
Two bright blue eyes, a precious nose, a tiny rosebud mouth; A baby, pure as sunshine, slowly looked about.
With loving arms I picked her up, and kissed her satin skin; And somewhere, someone whispered, "Your life can now begin"
